Abrasive Compounds offered here cover a variety of abrasive materials in grit size-ranges to meet every processing need from the most aggressive cut-down on hard ferrous alloys to the gentlest fine-finishing effects on the softer alloys, preparatory to high luster ball burnishing or plating.

Burnishing or Coloring Compounds in powder or liquid form are, of course, water-soluble. They are used, therefore, in direct proportion to the amount of water present. Since relatively little water is present in vibratory processing, these compounds are more economical. Powdered compounds, unless pre-dissolved, must have time to dissolve in the load water before they can become active. Liquid compounds, especially when fed together with the water through a manifold, are instantly active.

Cleaning Compounds are also available in powder and liquid form and under the same advantages and circumstances as detailed above. It has been pointed out that these compounds enjoy a wide range of application when used with abrasive media for cutting or deburring purposes. Alkaline cleaners are also employed as neutralizing agents following acid descaling runs. All of the cleaners in this group create optimum conditions for abrasive media to perform their work.

Descaling Compounds soften scale and rust so that action with the media in the work load removes them. Descaler No. 8, for instance, is a liquid high quality acid descaling compound so formulated as to greatly reduce any possibility of hydrogen embrittlement and yielding good color. It is imperative that acid descaling runs are followed immediately with a short cleaning run with such compounds as No. 10 or No. 12 Cleaners or their liquid counterparts, No. 101 or No. 122 Cleaners.
